Student Guide Booklet
Designed to make Adobe InDesign easier to understand, this student guidebook combines simple instructions, practical activities and engaging layouts to help students develop their skills.
Working as part of a fictional student-run organisation, I was tasked with creating a student guide booklet focused on Adobe InDesign. The booklet needed to have its own unique design choices while still remaining consistent with two other booklets in the same series, which focused on Photoshop and Illustrator.
I began by collaborating with my group members to decide on a suitable layout, visual style and overall tone for the series. From there, I started sketching possible page layouts before moving into InDesign to develop the booklet. As a group, we decided to avoid using pixel-based imagery, instead focusing on typography, shapes and simple graphic elements. I think this decision worked well, helping all three booklets feel connected while still allowing each design to have its own identity.
One of the main challenges was finding a balance between making the pages visually interesting and keeping the information clear and easy to follow. This helped me improve my InDesign skills and gain a better understanding of how to organise content across a longer document.
